Would taking Innerzyme Pain & Inflammation Blend be a good idea for a recent knee injury?

Yes! One thing to remember is that nearly every injury has an inflammatory component that when left untreated creates an immense amount of pain.  Also, when injuries in the knee begin to heal, there is a natural protection by the body to create scar tissue, however, excess scar tissue buildup is often the source of pain for many people down the road from previous injuries.

With that said, someone who is suffering from a recent sports injury could benefit from taking Innerzyme's Pain & Inflammation Blend.  A little about Innerzyme's Pain & Inflammation Blend and enzymes in general.  Innerzyme's Pain & Inflammation Blend is a systemic enzyme meaning it is working throughout the body.  The specific enzymes in this formula are different from our other enzyme blends that focus on digestive health.

Systemic enzymes have 5 primary functions:
  1. Natural Anti-inflammatory which will assist in reducing the inflammation and swelling in your knee.*
  2. Anti-Fibrin which will reduce any excess scar tissue that forms during the healing process alleviating tenderness and pain.*
  3. Blood Cleansing which means any toxins or fibrin in the blood as a result of your injury will be removed.*
  4. Immune System Modulating which will support health and metabolic functions during repair.*
  5. Virus Fighting meaning enzymes break down protein walls of viruses inhibiting their replication which boosts health and ability to fight off infections.*
As for the question, what are enzymes?  They are biocatalysts or proteins naturally produced in the body until about the age of 30.  They are responsible for over 3000 chemical reactions within the body.  In other words, your body cannot properly function which includes healing without enzymes.  As you get older, the body becomes enzyme deficient making the recovery time longer and longer and also making the body more susceptible to injury or illness.  A good example of enzymes at work is to think about when a young child falls and sustains an injury, cut, or scratch.  They heal a lot quicker than someone in their 40s, 50s or 60s simply because their body has an adequate amount of enzymes to attack the area of injury right away to reduce pain, inflammation and excess scar tissue.

As far as recommended dosage, 4 a day is ideal as a maintenance dose or for ongoing preventative care.  Since this injury is recent, healthcare practitioners recommend 4 tablets twice daily for sports injuries and chronic pain patients.  If this is the first time you have ever taken enzymes, it is important to increase your water intake as your body is will be going through a sort of healing crisis as the enzymes work to reduce and eliminate inflammation, swelling and the excess scar tissue that is the ultimate culprit of pain.

Innerzyme, when taken correctly and given an adequate amount of time to work, it is very effective. Plus, it is a drug free, all natural formula so there are no side effects or concern about damaging the organs.  The only caution with this supplement is for people taking blood thinners simply because Innerzyme helps cleanse the blood and with cleaner blood you have improved absorption and so there is a chance you a person would experience a heightened result from blood thinning medication. If this does not apply to you, then you have nothing to worry about.

Since Innerzyme is enhance with Tumeric and White Willow Bark, which are two powerful anti-inflammatory agents, many people do experience some relief rather quickly.  However, to really get to the source of the problem and naturally restore the bodies healing mechanisms, healthcare professionals would recommend staying on the 4 tablets twice daily for the next 3 weeks.  From that point, you can determine if you are feeling a lot better and want to lower it to 4 a day or maintain the 8 tablets.  Since you are looking to get back into training, you can adjust your dosage as needed following the initial few weeks.  If you are experiencing a lot of pain or soreness following your workout or training regimen, you can safely increase the dose back up for a few days.
